A
mini saga is a piece of writing with no more than 50 words. It has to tell a story,
have a beginning, a middle and an ending. Mini sagas were “invented” by the
science-fiction writer Brian Aldiss, who thought it would be fun and challenging to tell
a story in very few words. As for the topic it could be a joke, something funny or scary that happened to you, a funny version of a fairy tale, a myth or legend, your views on a topic etc.
Have a look at the mini sagas that our Workshop students have written! Also, if you feel like sharing your own ideas, send your sagas to bookworm_0812@yahoo.com
When the elephant was young they tied
him to an iron stick. He tried to be released but he couldn’t… It was
impossible! Now, after many years, he is still tied because he gave up. Alas!
He doesn’t know his power and he doesn’t make an effort!

Mary liked wedding
ceremonies! She received an invitation card to John’s marriage one month ago.
On Saturday afternoon she went to the ceremony and while she was reaching the
church she felt surprised because nobody was there… And then she realized that
the ceremony was on Sunday instead of Saturday!
Last
summer, on a sunny day, my friend Nicolas and I decided to go with Nicolas’
boat from Nea Makri to Kea island. The voyage takes three hours. During the
voyage, in the sea there were many fish. Two beautiful dolphins followed our
boat. It was an exciting sight!

The title of the oldest
man in the world who had a newborn child, at the age of 96, is claimed by Indian Ramjhit
Raghan. His wife is 54 years old. They have been married for 22 years and have
an older child, 2 years old. He eats butter, milk and nuts every day. Their
neighbours are jealous of them because they have sex 3 times every day.

In Greek mythology, the god of winds, Aiolos, has a beautiful daughter,
a bird with the most beautiful colours, named Alcion. In January, when Alcion
wants to hatch her eggs, her father stops all the winds and storms! The sun

Once upon a time a man was travelling
by ship. The weather was bad. A high wind was blowing and huge waves covered
the ship. All the passengers started swimming but the man of our story didn’t
do anything. He only cried “Athena help!”.
Then one from the others said to him “Along with Athena, also move your
hand”.

Last summer Maria decided to go on holiday by plane so she got the ticket few weeks before her trip. The day she had to travel she went to work with her luggage. While she was waiting for a taxi she looked in her bag and saw that her flight was for … the previous day!

You have just made your hot coffee at work, when your boss needs you for a project. This project always lasts as much time as your coffee needs to get cold. The same can happen when you light a cigarette at work. There is always something that can take you as much time as it needs to get burnt...

A Surprise Birthday
Party
My sexy secretary spoke softly to my ear. “I have a special gift for
your birthday tonight”. After work, I waited in a hotel room she had booked for
“us”. When she knocked, I opened the door and I saw my wife, colleagues and her
with a big birthday cake, but I stood there … without any clothes!

When Zeus was getting married he called to his wedding all the
animals. The only one that was missing from the big event was the tortoise.
Zeus realised tortoise’s absence and the next day, when he asked the reason
why, she answered: “My house is my kingdom”. The God got offended and angry. He
ordered her from that time to carry her house on her back anywhere she goes.
And that was done!

Three years ago, my two
colleagues and I arranged to meet at Kifissias road. We wanted to go to work by
the car of one of my colleagues. I arrived at the meeting point late. I saw the car and ran to it. I opened the door and took my
seat. Then I turned my head to the driver and … I got speechless! I had got into the wrong car.

Nowadays, people
suffer because of the economic crisis, but I believe that it is a big
opportunity for all of us. We can find our happiness in real relationships. We
can rely on our friendships. We can be real people again who love each other. I
hope that this will happen in the future and now it’s a good opportunity to
begin.
